Technical Description FTM-6000E

The FTM-6000E is an easy-to-use FM mobile radio for the amateur radio bands 2m and 70cm. The transmitting power is max. 50 W, switchable to 25 and 5 W. The unit supports operation in FM and NFM (Narrow FM), as well as reception in AM (aeronautical radio). The receiver ranges from 108 to 999 MHz. On the transmitting side, the amateur radio bands 2m and 70cm are covered. If necessary, the transmission range can be extended (option 99FREQ).

The large display shows the easily readable operating frequency. Only the selected band is displayed at a time; the FTM-6000E transceiver has only one receiver. To monitor multiple frequencies, powerful functions such as Scan and Priority Watch (Dualwatch) are available.

The most frequently used frequencies can be stored in the memory, for which 1000 memory locations are available. Each memory can also be given an alpha-numeric name, for example the callsign of the repeater. In order to be able to reach a selected group of memories particularly quickly, a separate "PMG Primary Memory Group" key is available. Conveniently, all memories are automatically grouped by band, so you always have all frequencies of a band sorted to each other.

An optional Bluetooth unit (BU-4) allows operation with a headset (e.g. SSM-BT10) or a hands-free kit. The FTM-6000 has a 10-pin 'Data' socket on the rear panel, which can be used for operation with Packet Radio or an external voice recorder (Parrot), for example. Another 'Data' socket is used for programming via suitable PC software. The control panel of the FTM-6000E is detachable, a 3m separation cable and a bracket are supplied. This allows the control panel to be installed in a conveniently accessible position.

The FTM-6000E FM transceiver focuses on ease of use, very important for safety while driving. New are two large function keys to the left and right of the display. These buttons form the basis for the new "Easy to Operate" (E2O) concept. Here, the most important menu functions can be individually programmed onto the keys by the user. The result is an operation that suits every application.

The easy operation of the unit is complemented by functions such as "Memory Auto Grouping" and the "Primary Memory Group". Memory Auto Grouping" automatically arranges the up to 1000 memory locations by tape. Particularly practical: if required, individual tapes can be hidden if they are not being used. The "Primary Memory Group" highlights up to five memories again; they can be accessed very quickly via a dedicated "PMG" button.

Convenient operation is enhanced by the FTM-6000E's remote control panel. A holder and a separation cable are supplied, allowing the control panel to be mounted in the optimum position in the vehicle. The control panel has space for the optional Bluetooth board "BU-4", which can easily be retrofitted by the user. A Bluetooth headset is very helpful in many situations; in the vehicle, a BT hands-free system can contribute to safety while driving.
